A wonderful addition to the much needed food scene in downtown Castro Valley. Slice house makes delicious pizza. Tried the Grandma and Detroit Chicken Ranch and liked the Detroit one more. Grandma style is rich with cheese, much more than Detroit. Also recommend the burrata cheese vegetarian pizza. I tried the Sicilian style and like it. Must try!

I was very excited about trying out the NY style pizza here. That’s my favorite style and I have had it all over USA including NY. While the flavor of the pizza was good, it fell short in the crust and the toppings. The crust I felt was thicker than what a true NY style should be. It wasn’t as crispy but I know perhaps well done order will take care of that. I felt the edges were too doughy. I had the medium wise guy pizza which hardly had sausage on it which is one of the toppings. I will certainly try it again but will order well done and see! I will say the pizza came out exactly on the time I had ordered it for so it was nice and hot and I appreciate that.

Tried their Hawaiian pizza and it was phenomenal! Instead of pineapple chunks, they lay thin pineapple slices on top and it blends nicely with the pizza. Since it's not premade, I waited for 25 minutes for the freshly baked pizza.

Went here on a Friday night. If you want a whole pie, expect a long wait (at least 45min-1hr), it is really busy. I recommend ordering online. We almost left, but they did have slices available, which was great, we got to try 4 different pizza flavors & styles. 1) Detroit style pizza Little Italy, this was different, dough is thick with crusty cheese edges and the sauce is on top of the toppings. Too thick for me, but it has great flavor. We also got 3 NY style pizza slices, my fave was the 1) burrata queen, this didn't have red sauce, it had pesto, mozzarella, so yummy! 2) NY Wiseguy, this was good, loved the ricotta on it. 3) bbq chicken ranch, this one was good too. We'll be back to try more! You can also call ahead to see what slices are available. The staff are nice, I just felt rushed to order because it was so busy. We were lucky to get a table, looks like they have alot of take out. There's one bathroom and it was clean.

When in Castro Valley - Do as the Castro Valley-ians do. Is that spelled right? Like Oregon locals are called Oregonians?! Ha ha, actually I don't know if that's what Castro Valley Locals do, there were a handful of customers in the sitting area, but who knows if they were from Castro Valley, they could have been visiting from out of town. Anyhow, I visited this location of the Slice House because, well I was looking for something different and closer to what I normally have and to what I normally have to drive to, which isn't thaaaat far, but it's still out of the way. The Slice House is located at the Castro Valley Natural Grocers. Don't know what that is? Think the Anaheim Packing House but waaaay smaller, waaaay safer and much easier parking. It's a cute small corner shop in the Natural Grocers', with a pretty eclectic size eating area, enough for about 6 four seat tables and 2 taller tables for two on the outside of its walls. It's quaint. They have an abundant variety of daily pizza slices all ranging from $6.65- 7.65, whole pies are available for purchase to, I'm sure, but this visit was only for a slice. A tasty slice of their Veggie Pizza "New York Style". I didn't have to wait long, even though it was prime dinner time, but it was a Monday Night, so most would probably be at home with their families. I didn't know what to expect when I ordered the slice, so when the cashier handed me a small box which looked like a box for a small pizza, I was a taken a little off-guard. The pizza was pretty good, it only was dry towards the crust, which was a little disappointing since I had to throw away about 1/8 of it. It was still consumable. It was a good try considering I didn't have to travel far and found parking right away.

Stopped by for a mid-day craving of pizza. Front-person was friendly and gave me recommendations for vegetarian pizza slice options available, when asked. Went for a Sicilian slice and a NYC style pesto. The Sicilian was cheesy, flavorful, and had a fluffy texture; the latter was a bit crispier and a bit drier than I expected but still flavorful. Would come back to try their other vegetarian options!

Customer reviews reflect a deep appreciation for the offerings. Soumen B praises the Detroit Chicken Ranch for its flavor and recommends the burrata cheese vegetarian pizza as a must-try. Meanwhile, Tom Gan's experience with the Hawaiian pizza highlights the freshness of the ingredients, especially the unique use of thin pineapple slices that elevate the traditional taste.

While some diners, like Michael Nader, noted minor tweaks to be made—such as adjusting the crust to align more closely with true NY style—most seem eager to return and explore the menu further. This speaks volumes about the restaurant's commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. Pam N's experience echoes this sentiment, as she delighted in sampling multiple slices, each with distinct toppings that catered to her cravings.
